post-cold-water-immersion musings:

Reactions from the swimmers on Rockaway Beach, NY: β€œIt’s amazing! electric! great!” Yep, agreed! Squeals of joy and exhilaration all round πŸš€ (plus a fungi magazine glow in the dark ascomycetes mushroom tee shirt turned into a bathing suit πŸ„) photo by Susannah Ray

Marc’s first time winter swimming πŸ† He ran back into the water soon after this succinct review. Again! Again! Some people like to do duration and others go for the triple dipping. Everything works! πŸ’ͺ🏿

β€œThat clean feeling...” photo by Nathan Fitch (who ran in the water after the swimmers in his boots, socks and trousers to get the perfect shot of the snow swim frenzy)
The nearly legal beach fire has become a must on the beach for the New York crew, and the communal aspect just as vital as the actual mood boost and health benefits of the swim. πŸ‘πŸΎπŸ”₯

Matt is in the water every day in the summer and now in the winter you’ll find him there every Sunday too. He comes swim to meet his friends and share some home baked lobster cookies 🦞🦞🦞🦞🦞🦞🦞🦞 Matt was also Stripping Swim Santa back in December ⚑️

My first swim of the year at Battery Rocks, Penzance UK. I went at about 3pm local time, 2hours before low tide. The sea’s temperature is about 9C, or 50F. It was beautiful, sparkly, and my body felt completely on fire πŸ”₯ and alive πŸ’« I also met some other local swimmers there who I will meet to go with next time, win!
