When colour shines through glass

I want to learn how to make stained glass in the new year. I just love how the light transforms the colour. Planning to collect some inspiration.

I’ve decided I want to learn how to make stained glass in the new year. As the light just transforms the colour and it feels like something I could make at home. I’ve got the mighty task of moving house first... So to keep me inspired in amongst all the box packing, going to collect some inspiring examples here.

This has got to be one of my favourite stained glass pieces by the mighty Scottish artist Eduardo Paolozzi. This is just one of the grand panels, it truly is a sight to behold. Those shapes, those colours 🤩

Simple, but beautiful shapes and colours on this small panel at Blackwell Arts and Crafts House. Love the way the view through is all distorted and smudgy.

A ray of sunshine. ☀️ Great colour in this skylight. Seemingly simple, but can imagine cutting all those perfect circles and lining them up would be quite the challenge.

Just vinyl, but great colour pops on the windows of a former factory in Dundee.

Love this. I’m a printmaker too, so this transparency from a screen print just hung up on the windows is such a simple but effective move. Spotted as part of a larger Installation at Dundee Design Festival a few years ago.

Ok not stained glass, just light strips, but I like them and they fit my vague inspiration brief.

A colourful installation at ECA degree show a few years ago. Was really fun walking around this and looking through each piece, as they each distorted the colour in a different way.

Simple colour and shape palette, but pretty effective in overall impact.

No colour, but good shapes in the roof of the British Museum.

Don’t love the overall style here, but do like aspects of the painterly element of the colour in this.
